TRAFFIC
Over the past few decades large traffic corridors, streets and parking lots have become elements that fragment communities. It doesn't have to be so. With integrated planning a street can be restored into a common environment or social stage that gathers blocks together to form a city.
In planning cars are often viewed as disturbances and something that should be pushed aside, whereas residents often see them as a natural part of their everyday lives. By mixing functions, parking can be integrated into the neighbourhood. Street areas are made safer by applying the results of traffic psychology.
